Up For Sale here with NO RESERVE is a Rare Original 2001 Apple 5gb iPod In Box, Model #M8513LL/A (M8513). I am the original owner, it was bought for $399 on release day in October 2001. This Package Includes the original firewire cable and charger, original box and some paperwork. This iPod is mac only and will require a firewire port to use. This iPod is running software version 1.3 and works fine with my Mac running Leopard. The Serial # that comes up in itunes matches the serial number printed on the box. Headphones are not included. There is no itunes install disc, I'm not sure if there ever was one or any other paperwork included, what you see in the photos is what you get.This Ipod is All Original and still Works Beautifully, it has never been re-furbished nor has the case ever been opened. In a few of the photos the iPod is on, there is also a photo showing the display being back-lit. There are no cracks in the screen or casing. There are several scratches on the front and back (see photos) but less than most 1st Gen iPods you will see. The Scroll-wheel, Lock, and All the Buttons work as they should. There is a small chip in the plastic ring around the headphone port but jacks will still lock into it.I have had 5 more iPods since - but this Original 5gb has always been the most reliable and I think it sounds the best as well.The Battery is Original and Still holds a charge for about 2 hours under normal use. If you have the volume really high and are using the back-light it won't last very long at all. If you keep the volume really low and avoid navigating the menus too much, it can last longer. Of course it can be kept plugged into a wall outlet with the firewire cable and run all day long.The Box is Clean and Intact Overall. While in storage the box suffered some minor water damage. The iPod or its accessories were not in the box when it was exposed to moisture. The only part of the box really affected were 2 sides of the outer slip sleeve, which doesn't have any serial #'s or markings making it unique to match the iPod, so it could be replaced. The inner box that has the matching serial # sticker shows minor wear and slight discoloring maybe from the moisture but this is barely noticeable. The Box can still be displayed on a shelf and look great from at least 2 sides.The iPod is fully functional and should be ready for anyone to use right out of the box; but I am not an expert on the different iPod software versions and compatibility with different versions of OS X or iTunes.
