Up for auction is a vintage Mc Intosh MC 240 Stereo Power Amplifier from 1965. This item is an estate find that was stored in a cabinet for quite a long time. It is in great shape cosmetically and the finish has very minimal blemishes. The chrome accents are very shiney with very little oxidation. The black painted portions are also very nice! I did not find the metal tube cage that surrounds the tubes. I found the 30 day offer card for obtaining a free protective cover. The card was ripped in half, so apparently the owner did send info in to the company. The 3 large black transformers are also in great shape and the paint is in good condition. I plugged the unit in, but none of the tubes heated up. It looks like a few of the tubes are bad. I am not an expert on these old tube amps, so don't know what or how this baby gets hooked up to an existing sound system. I know its very,very heavy at 56 lbs.! I don't know how to test this unit, so i am going to sell this item as-is no warranty due to vintage electronics. This amp cost like $400 new in 1965! I do know it was well maintained and very rarely used. It is a one owner amplifier that a doctor bought with other separate pieces of stereo components. I am just selling this amplifier out the system. It comes with the original owners manual,mounting template,the original 3 yr certificate for factory service contract. On the contract, the serial # is 921D2. Dated 6/7/65. I hope I was thorough enough in the description of this item. I like to see it go to a good home and for someone to get it fired up and use it!
