Looking for home theater-quality sound without having loads
of equipment, speakers and miles of cable cluttering the room? Disappointed in the Lo-Def audio from
your Hi-Def TV? If so, then this
Bose CineMate system may be the perfect solution for you.
This system is streamlined, simple to set up yet still delivers
superb acoustic performance permitting you to fully enjoy your favorite TV
shows, DVD’s, Blu-Ray© movies and interactive games. The Owner’s Guide describes the experience this way-“Using
our TrueSpace™ signal processing technology, CineMate speakers provide
improved spaciousness for bold 3D effects and movie-like realism….In fact, they
provide much of the performance of premium five-speaker systems, yet from a
modest array of equipment.”
This complete system includes all of the following:
A.
The Acoustimass© sub-woofer which processes
and distributes the audio signal and plays the bass frequencies. It measures 14.5”H x 8.75”W x 19.125D
and weighs 23.3 pounds and finished in black polymer. This can be placed on a shelf or on the floor, under a table
or behind the drapes. It has a
detachable power cord and is the only component that connects to a power
outlet.
B.
One pair of CineMate speakers, which provide the
mid- and upper-range frequencies and deliver the audio surround effects. They each measure 3 1/2”H x 7 7/8”W x 5
1/4”D, weigh 2.7 pounds and are finished in gray polymer. The included 15’
speaker cables allow you to position them for optimum results. They can be wall-mounted, situated on a
shelf or mounted on floor stands.
Please note the following information that
is included to ensure absolute accuracy. There are surface scratches and a very small chip in the
outer flange of one of the speakers, which is documented in one of the photos. I knocked it over about two years ago,
but it landed on the carpet. I
have used the system regularly since then and cannot detect any variation in
performance. The only damage is to
the case and although the chip is visible at close range, it is not noticeable during
regular use.
C.
One Infrared Remote Control interface module
with power indicator lights; primarily used for controlling the On/Off and
volume functions and connecting the audio outputs from the TV to the rest of
the system. This lets you hide the
Acoustimass module discreetly out of your line of sight, but still control it
through this small interface

One Bose© Universal Remote Control, along with
its own comprehensive User’s Guide and manufacturers’ device codes. This full-feature remote will control
most functions of your other electronics and I’ve just installed a fresh set of
batteries.
But wait, there’s even more!!

Included is a pair of genuine Bose UFS-20 Floor Stands
in black, measuring 41” tall and featuring hollowed channels in the back of the
upright rods to hide the speaker wires. The weighted baseplates measure 8” X 4” and weigh 15.5 pounds
each. This helps to keep the
speakers from tipping over, at least most of the time. The original assembly instruction
booklet is included. Bose did not
include them with the system; these were purchased separately for $95. Using the floor stands will put the
speakers at ear level and minimize cluttering the room. One of the photos shows them as fully
assembled, but they will be disassembled for shipping. All original hardware is included, and
all you’ll need to assemble the stands is a Phillips screwdriver.
F.
This system came with a pair of 6’ no-name audio
cables to connect TV output jacks to the system, but you will be getting a pair
of 13.5’ Monster© premium gold-tipped cables for optimum performance.
