This is the legendary Nelson Pass designed ADCOM GFA-555 two channel stereo amplifier. It is designed to provide under load, 200 watts at 8 ohms and 325 watts at 4 ohms. It will output 600 watts into 8 ohms when switched to bridge mode. It is equipped with the optional rack mount front panel with handles. The front display includes red led to indicate power on and a distortion alert provides warning when distortion exceeds 1%. The massive power supply includes a 700VA transformer and 60,000 microfarads of capacitor smoothing. Mr. Pass is famed for his simplistic amplifier designs which withstand the test of time.
This ADCOM was purchased by myself in 1985 and has been used to drive single and multiple coned speaker systems as well as driving 2 ohm Martin Logan electrostatic speakers. It has been used and stored in a non smoking environment. It includes the original owners manual and the color product brochure.
It is in excellent mechanical condition with a few scratches on the top panel and several small knicks on the front panel which are easily mistaken as dust specs. I have had the amplifier running for the last two weeks and it still provides the sweet muscular sound of Pass designed amplifiers. It has not been modified in any fashion and it will be securely packaged to ensure safe arrival.
